Our Bobby, Frida Berger

Bobby spent a lifetime nourishing others—with food, with love, and with unwavering strength. Her journey began in the warmth of her childhood kitchen in ComloÈ™u Mare, where she prepared hearty, homemade meals for her family. That same spirit of giving stayed with her through every chapter of her life—including during the war, when she was sent to Auschwitz and later to Bergen-Belsen. Even there, under the most difficult conditions, Bobby found ways to make soup—offering comfort, strength, and whatever dignity she could to those around her.

After the war, she rebuilt her life in Belgium, then Montreal, and eventually Los Angeles. Wherever she went, her kitchen became a place of generosity, flavor, and connection. She made it her mission to feed anyone in need—family, students, neighbors, and friends. She often said, “Give with a warm hand,” and would quote her mother’s words: “If you don’t have the means to give, give a little something to eat.”

In honor of her 100th birthday, we invite you to give in her merit. Your donation will help prepare nourishing soups and directly support families through Tomche Shabbos.

To our Bobby—an Eishes Chayil in every sense. May her legacy of strength, compassion, and giving live on.

With all our love… to 120 and beyond.
